Charlotte Dujardin, the most decorated British Olympic champion in equestrian sports, has opted out of the 2024 Olympics in Paris due to a video, where she is shown whipping the horse.
The 2024 Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. An investigation into the video is currently underway by the British Equestrian Federation and the British Dressage.
The Telegraph quotes Dujardin as saying:
What happened is completely contrary to my character. I am deeply ashamed and should have set a better example at that moment.
Charlotte is a three-time Olympic champion and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. She has been riding since she was two years old.
Earlier, Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), addressed athletes ahead of the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
