The encounter between Nice vs Marseille in French Ligue 1 got cancelled after reaching the second half as a home team fan hit Marseille’s Dimitri Payet with a bottle which started a chaotic chain of events. Once Payet got hit, he threw the bottle back towards the fans and soon, the enraged fans charged on the football field and it became a matter of pitch invasion. Then the situation only got worse as the players of Nice and Marseille also started to brawl against each other.
Nice led the game one-nil before the event occurred as Kasper Dolberg nailed a goal at the forty ninth minute mark. The plastic bottles ravaged the scenery throughout the game but the incident aggravated when Payet got hit and couldn’t help but retaliate. After the brawl and pitch invasion, Nice players came out to play but Marseille refused to show up in a bizarre scenario. As of now, after an angry reaction from the Sports ministry, the authorities have opened up a probe examining the incident and bringing to task who took part in escalating the events.
