The New York Knicks completed a 112-99 win over the Philadelphia 76ers and are now 3-1 to start the season. Kemba Walker hit five threes on his way to 19 points while Tobias Harris’ 23 points went in vain for the 76ers. New York had a strong 39-16 second quarter and from there Sixers played catch-up.
Knicks click from long-range
New York made 16 out of 37 three-pointers, Fournier nailed four, Kemba made five, Randle had two, Barrett had two while Quickley, Rose, and Burks had one each. In contrast to NY’s 43.2 Three-point percentage, Sixers made four fewer threes, taking 41 shots, compiling only 29.3%. Sixers’ Furkan Korkmaz missed six of his eight attempts while Tobias made two out of six and Seth Curry couldn’t connect on even one of his four attempts.
Knicks defense steps up
Embiid did make 10 out of 11 free throws but shot just 2/7 from the floor with Mitchell Robinson, Taj Gibson, and the Knicks bottling it inside. The team held Seth Curry to 4 points who came into the game after two games with 20 points or more. Tyrese Maxey also had a tough time, missing all his three attempts from long-rage and the Knicks defense stifled the 76ers response all night long.
