Kenyan striker Mwanahalima Adam made history, becoming the first ever Kenyan women to play in the United States top tier, the National Women’s Soccer League, after signing for Kansas City.
Adam, nicknamed ‘Dogo’ has played two matches for the KC side and she believes her milestone is a massive way to give hope to the next generation of women footballers, that they can achieve their dreams if they put in the work.
This has been a massive move for me, and a true testament of results coming from hard work. This is a hope to all women footballers in Africa, that as long as you put in the work, you can always reap the results. I want to give my best at KC and achieve great things.
Adam said, speaking to Telecomasia.net from Kansas
Adam moved to the USA from Turkey, where she had played for Hakkarigücü Spor. She joined the KC current with an enviable record of scoring 23 goals for her Turkish club last season, including two hatricks.
There is definitely a lot of expectation from everyone and for me that is positive pressure. I am ready to show my worth and score goals for my new club
