Volkanovski last stepped into the octagon against American Max Holloway in June of this year at UFC 276. That fight ended in favor of Alex by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 25 wins and one loss under his belt.
Makhachev had his last fight against Brazilian Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 last October. Islam won that fight with a chokehold in the second round and won the league's light heavyweight championship belt. He has 23 wins and one loss.
