UFC CEO Dana White has shed light on the situation surrounding the departure of undefeated British mixed martial artist Muhammad Mokaev.
Dana White said during the press conference following UFC 308:
So, first of all, he was not released, he just was not re-signed. His contract expired and there were a lot of issues with him behind the scenes. And not some behind-the-scenes. The matchmakers were done with him, they were tired of him, they did not want to deal with him anymore so they didn’t re-sign him. I have no problem with him and I have never had a beef with him and I don’t deal with him daily.
Mokaev last fought against Manon Kape in July of this year at UFC 304. In that fight, which went the full distance, Muhammad won by unanimous decision. After that match, the UFC chose not to extend the contract with the British fighter. Mokaev's record in mixed martial arts includes 13 victories and no losses, with one of his bouts being declared a no contest.
