Former UFC fighter turned analyst Chael Sonnen has shared his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
Sonnen stated, as reported by MMAJunkie:
Do you believe that Jon can just go take Stipe down whenever he wants? If you do believe that, now that’s something that Daniel Cormier couldn’t do. In one of the fights, there were two takedowns, and Stipe got them both. Do you think that Jon Jones can knock out Stipe Miocic? And that is the one place where that size does actually come in, where the power actually comes in. It would move in Stipe’s favor.
The clash between Jones and Miocic is set to take place on November 17 at UFC 309 in New York City, USA.
Miocic last stepped into the octagon in March 2021 at UFC 260, where he lost to Francis Ngannou by knockout in the second round. His record stands at 20 wins and four losses.
Jones competed most recently in March 2023 at UFC 285, where he defeated Ciryl Gane via submission in the first round. His record has 27 wins and one loss.
