Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes explained why his fight with Carlos Ulberg was canceled for the second time.
Recall that the second fight between Reyes and Ulberg was scheduled to take place on March 31 at UFC Fight Night 240 in Atlantic City (USA). Alonzo Menifield agreed to replace Dominick on short notice.
Reyes told Middle Easy:
Me and Carlos were slated to fight January 20th. He pulled out, I don't know why. It's an injury, obviously, but he's not going to say what his injury is. And then a week later, I ended up getting blood clots. I’m lucky to be alive right now. We caught it early, and thank God for that. My leg was hurting, and I thought I pulled a muscle in my calf, so I got a massage, and that’s the worst thing you can ever do. I’m lucky I didn’t die on that massage table right there.
Reyes last fought against Ryan Spann in November 2022 at UFC 281. In that fight, Dominick suffered a first-round knockout loss. He has 12 wins and four losses in mixed martial arts.
