Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has once again spoken about his professional career's end.

I'm going out on my terms. I'm not getting squeezed out of this. I'm not letting the sport retire me — I'm retiring from the sport.

Dustin Poirier, quoted by the Red Corner MMA on X.com

It's worth noting that on July 20, Poirier will fight Max Holloway. Their first encounter took place in February 2012 at UFC 143, where Poirier won by submission (triangle choke and elbow lock) in the first round. In April 2019, Poirier defeated Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC 236. His record is 30 wins and nine losses, with one fight declared as no contest. Holloway's record stands at 26 wins and eight losses.
