Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira commented on the words of American Jamahal Hill, who earlier promised to knock out the Brazilian in the stand-up.
Pereira told MMAnews:
I think it’s just a little bit over or too much, as well, looking at my story, my history in kickboxing to say I will stand striking, and I will knock him out and whatever. Because finally all the people are always trying it, and I’m sure he wants to strike, but when he sees it’s not working, he will go on the ground, as well, and this is what happened in the other fights too. I think Jamahal is a good fight for me, and I think he was a little bit over with his statement.
Pereira last fought against Jiri Prochazka on Nov. 12 at UFC 295. In this confrontation, Alex won by technical knockout in the second round. He has nine wins and two losses on his record.
Hill last entered the octagon against Glover Teixeira in January of this year at UFC 283. That fight went the full distance and ended in Jamahal's favor with a unanimous decision from the judges. He has 12 wins and one loss on his record.
