In an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, AKA head coach Javier Mendez discussed Umar Nurmagomedov's preparation for his fight against Cory Sandhagen ahead of the UFC on ABC 7 event.
Umar's preparation for the fight against Sandhagen has been very good. Khabib will be in his corner this time. He has always been training Umar. But having him alongside me this time is something special. So, Umar’s confidence is extremely high. The training camp went excellently, with no injuries; everything was perfect. His sparring sessions were ideal.

"The last sparring session was the best he’s had in this camp, and we were all very, very pleased. His mentality is great. He understands what he needs to do. He knows that he must defeat Cory to secure the title shot that the UFC is offering to the winner of this fight,” Mendez stated.
On August 3, at UFC on ABC 7, Umar Nurmagomedov will face Cory Sandhagen in the octagon.
