Attorney Barbara Llanes, representing the interests of former UFC double champion Conor McGregor, said that her client is no longer charged with alleged sexual assault during the NBA Finals.
Recall, in June, McGregor attended the final game of the NBA between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets. After the end of the match, a woman reported to the police that McGregor dragged her into the men's room and raped her.
CCTV footage from the arena showed McGregor and his accuser entering the restroom together for about five minutes. They were later seen together at a club.
Barbara Llanes said:
After a thorough investigation, including a review of videos and interviews with eyewitnesses, the authorities have concluded that there is no case to pursue against my client, Conor McGregor. On behalf of my client, his family and his fans we are pleased this is now over.
According to TMZ, prosecutors concluded that there was "insufficient evidence" and "contradicting and/or no corroborating witnesses" to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that McGregor sexually assaulted a woman on June 9 during Game 4 of the NBA Finals at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
The prosecutor's office questioned a plumber who witnessed the pair entering the stall together, but he heard no signs of distress. The accuser's friend also told prosecutors that she was not informed of the alleged rape.
McGregor last fought against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264. In this confrontation, Conor was defeated by technical knockout after breaking his leg. He has 22 wins and six losses on his record.
