UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has admitted that if he would like another fight after Stipe Miocic, his potential opponent may be Alex Pereira.
Bloody Elbow quotes Jones as saying:
I feel like Tom Aspinall is, I don’t want to say nobody, but he just hasn’t proven anything. He hasn’t done anything. If there were to be a fight of a guy that’s still on our UFC roster, that would be not only financially worth it but also legacy worth it- it would be Alex Pereira. I think that fight would go much farther on my legacy than a young man who’s cool today and may be gone tomorrow.
Jones last fought against Ciryl Gane in March 2023 at UFC 285. Jon won that fight by submission in the first round and claimed the UFC heavyweight championship belt. He has 27 wins and one loss on his record.
Alex Pereira last stepped into the octagon in October 2024 at UFC 307, defeating Khalil Rountree by TKO in the fourth round. He has 12 wins and two losses on his record.
