UFC light heavyweight champion American Jamahal Hill said he is relinquishing the title due to an injury that left him unable to compete for a long time.
As the fighter said on his Youtube channel, he suffered an Achilles tendon injury. He will need surgery and recover for a long time. Hill clarified that the promotion has promised him a title fight when he returns to the league.
Hill, 32, last fought against Glover Teixeira in January of this year at UFC 283. In that confrontation, Jamahal won by unanimous decision of the judges and won the championship belt. He has 12 wins and one loss under his belt.
