Newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill became the first fighter from Dana White's Contender Series show to become the promotion's champion. Recall that tonight he defeated Glover Teixeira, who later announced ending his career.
Hill competed on Dana White's show in July 2019. At that time, Jamahal won by technical knockout over Alexander Poppeck and received a contract with the league. Since then, the American has had eight fights under the auspices of the UFC: he won six wins, lost once and had one fight declared void.
Hill, 31, had his last fight in the main event of UFC 283 against Glover Teixeira. The fight lasted all five rounds set for title eliminations. At the end of the fight, all the judges gave the victory by unanimous decision to Hill. Thus, Jamahal became the new UFC light heavyweight champion.
