American UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley expressed his desire to fight former division champion Kamaru Usman.
On October 6, at UFC 307, Buckley knocked out Stephen Thompson in the third round.
Buckley said in a post-match interview:
Look, I feel like I need to fight one more time before I fight for the belt… But Usman, get your ass out here in the Octagon, everybody wants to see that fight, let’s go, I’m gonna put my 5-0 record up against your three losses (in a row), and let’s get it, let’s see who’s gonna win.
Buckley previously fought in May 2024 at UFC on ESPN 56, defeating Nursulton Ruziboev by unanimous decision. He holds 20 wins and six losses. Thompson has 17 wins, eight losses, and one draw.
