American UFC veteran Geoff Neal shared his thoughts on the possibility of lightweight champion Islam Makhachev moving up to the welterweight division.

Islam’s prospects in the welterweight division? I feel like he'll be in the top ten for sure. As for becoming a champion or whatever... He's good enough. His wrestling's super good. He'll get through a lot of people but I'll beat his a**.

Makhachev last fought in January 2025 at UFC 311, where he defeated Renato Moicano with a submission in the first round. He boasts a record of 27 wins and one loss.

In October 2024, Neal secured a victory over Rafael dos Anjos via technical knockout in the first round at UFC 308. He currently holds a record of 16 wins and six losses.
