American athlete Julie Kedzie, formerly of the UFC, has pledged to donate her brain after her death to scientific research into chronic traumatic encephalopathy. This was reported by MMA Underground.
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a neurodegenerative disease that develops as a result of repeated mild traumatic brain injuries in professional athletes.
Kedzie last fought against Brazilian Bethe Correia in December 2013 at UFC Fight Night 33. In that fight Julie was defeated by a split decision. In April 2021, she announced the end of her career. She has 16 wins and 13 losses in mixed martial arts under her belt.
