Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman reacted to middleweight Dricus du Plessis, who said he would be the first "true" African UFC champion.
Du Plessis was born in South Africa and has lived and trained there ever since, while Usman has lived in the United States since he was eight years old.
One thing he doesn't understand is that the fact that I go to China and my parents are from China doesn't make me more Chinese than the natives of that country. Just because you went to South Africa and grew up there doesn't make you African. Try to be a little more careful about what you say and how you say it.

Recall, Usman will fight Leon Edwards on March 18 at UFC 286 in London.
Du Plessis, 29, last competed in the UFC 285 in March 2023, beating Derek Brunson by TKO in the second round. In December 2022, he defeated Darren Till by submission in the third round at UFC 282. Dricus has 18 wins and two losses under his belt.
