Former UFC interim lightweight division champion Tony Ferguson said he has no intention of retiring after his fight with Michael Chiesa on August 3 at UFC on ABC 7 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The BBC quotes Ferguson as saying:

I don't feel like this is going to be my last fight. I love the UFC and this is where I'm going to stay. I have to earn that right. I do have seven losses. Who gets an eighth chance when it goes into this, except for me? I do want to be here. I don't want to go fight for another organization. Where am I going to go? Literally, this is home. It's always been home.

Ferguson last fought in December 2023 at UFC 296, losing to Paddy Pimblett by unanimous decision. He has 25 wins and 10 losses on his record.

Chiesa last stepped into the octagon against Kevin Holland in July 2023 at UFC 291. That fight, which was stopped in the first round, ended in a choke submission loss for Michael. He has 16 wins and seven losses on his record.
