Italian middleweight MMA fighter Alessio Di Chirico, formerly of the UFC, was arrested in Formentera, Spain by members of the Civil Guard on charges of assaulting a taxi driver.
According to Superdeporte, Di Chirico called a taxi to take his family from a restaurant to the hotel where they were staying. The fighter and his wife and two children wanted to ride together in the back seat, but the cab driver asked one person to sit next to him because regulations prohibit carrying more than three people in the back seat.
Di Chirico scolded the driver all the way for not letting him sit next to his family. When they arrived at the hotel, the fighter paid for the ride and started beating the cab driver without saying a word, causing serious injuries to his face.
Di Chirico, 33, lost to Roman Kopylov by third-round knockout in his last fight at UFC Fight Night 209 in September 2022. He has 13 wins and seven losses under his belt.
