American athlete Erin Blanchfield, after her victory over Jessica Andrade, announced her desire to fight against UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Blanchfield and Andrade faced each other in the main event of UFC Fight Night 219, held on the night of February 19 in Las Vegas. In that encounter, Erin won by choke in the second round.
I knew that by beating someone like Andrade, especially if I submit her, I could earn the title in my next fight. The (Shevchenko vs. Grasso) title fight is in two weeks, so I think it could work out perfectly. But if they want me to fight someone else, I'll just get more experience. But I would definitely prefer Shevchenko. I think she'll beat Alexa.

Shevchenko will face Mexican Alexa Grasso at UFC 285 on the night of March 5 in Las Vegas. Valentina had her last fight against Brazilian Taila Santos at UFC 275 last June. In that match Shevchenko won by split decision.
Last November, Blanchfield was competing at UFC 281 against Molly McCann of the UK. That fight ended in Erin's favor by submission in the first round.
