Dave Lovell, coach of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, expects the British fighter to have a money fight with Conor McGregor after his bout with Belal Muhammad.
Lovell told Submission Radio:
We’ve got a few options but if we’re talking about a fight financially that can obviously pay more than the average then it’d be the fight with Conor (McGregor). Conor’s obviously mentioned that he would move up to welterweight and fight Leon if he was to beat Chandler. I haven’t really got nobody I would say I would like Leon to fight apart from if he were to fight Conor, it’d be a great name to have on his CV and plus it’s a mega-money fight, if that was to happen in Ireland, could you imagine?
Recall, the bout Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad will take place on July 27 as part of the UFC 304 event.
The 32-year-old Edwards last fought in December 2023 at UFC 296, defeating Colby Covington by unanimous decision. He has 22 wins and three losses on his record.
Muhammad, 36, hasn't stepped into the octagon since May 2023, when he defeated Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision at UFC 288. He has 23 wins and three losses on his record.
