UFC CEO Dana White announced he is ready to give Alexander Volkanovski a chance to rematch the featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.
In February 2024, at UFC 298, Topuria knocked out Volkanovski in the second round, claiming the promotion’s featherweight title.
White said at the press conference:
Alexander Volkanovski has been that guy for us any time we needed him. When things don't go our way and you've got to call a guy, Volkanovski has always been that guy. For him to ask for it, I don't think anybody in this room is going, 'Oh, this is ridiculous' or crazy. Who wouldn't want to see it again?
It's worth noting that on October 26 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Topuria won by knockout against Max Holloway in the third round during the main event of UFC 308. Topuria's record is now 16 wins and no losses, while Holloway has 26 wins and eight losses.
