Former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington of the United States launched a verbal attack at Kazakhstan's undefeated fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Bloody Elbow quoted Covington as saying:
I do think that he'll [Muhammad] be one-and-done, I think I'll be fighting s***-rat [Shavkat for the title] before the end of next year... I'll get back in there and whoever is the biggest and best business that I can do for the UFC and for the fans. I'm going to get back on the phone to the UFC, see what I need to do to get back to that title and I will be champion, the people know it, I know it, it's my destiny.
Covington last stepped into the octagon against Leon Edwards in December 2023 at UFC 296. That fight went the full distance and ended in a unanimous decision defeat for Colby. He has 17 wins and four losses on his record.
Rakhmonov last fought against American Stephen Thompson in December 2023 at UFC 296. In that fight, which was stopped in the second round, Shavkat won by chokng submission. He has 18 wins and no losses on his record.
