Famous sports commentator Ariel Helwani reported that UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, won't be able to participate in the UFC 301 tournament in Brazil.
Helwani said on the MMAFightingonSBN YouTube channel:
It’s extremely unlikely Alex Pereira fights in Rio next month. As revealed after the 300 main event, he broke his toe in the days leading up to the fight, and he suffered a second broken toe during the fight, too.
Pereira knocked out Jamahal Hill in the first round at UFC 300 on April 14. The 36-year-old Pereira's previous fight was in November 2023 at UFC 295, where he defeated Jiri Prochazka by technical knockout in the second round. He has ten wins and two losses to his name.
