Eugene Bareman, Israel Adesanya's coach, stated that the impressive performance of Alexander Volkanovski, who recently won the UFC featherweight title, greatly inspired his fighter. Following three consecutive losses, Adesanya has decided to continue his professional career.
On April 13 at UFC 314 in Miami, Volkanovski secured a unanimous decision victory over Diego Lopes, becoming the champion of the promotion in the featherweight division.
The one brief conversation that he had with me in the changing room at Volk's, he said, 'Look, man, I think I'm going to fight again. I think I'm ready to fight again.' Izzy knows that’s where he’s got to go and that’s a heavy, heavy commitment. Dedicate yourself as much as Volk does is a heavy, heavy commitment for any fighter in their prime let alone one that’s in the twilight of their career.

Adesanya last fought in the octagon against Nassourdine Imavov in February at UFC Fight Night 250. That match ended in the second round with Israel suffering a technical knockout. He holds a record of 24 wins and 5 losses.
