Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has announced that he intends to put his fighting career on hold to take a break from fighting.
Adesanya said on The Rock podcast:
Now I'm going to take time to look after myself, and I'm not going to fight for a long time. I'm definitely not going to retire because I know me – I'm not leaving like that. I know me. I'm going to heal myself up. You won't see me fight for a long time.
Adesanya last stepped into the octagon against Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293. That fight lasted the entire distance and ended in a unanimous decision defeat for Israel. Thus, the New Zealander once again lost the title. He has 24 wins and three losses.
