The first round of the Kremlin Cup has begun and three players have already qualified.
Australia’s Ajla Tomjanovic beat Russian Luidmilla Samsanova 6-2, 6-4. Tomjanovic edged out Samsanova 40-32 in service points while she had a 31-22 receiving points edge in the game.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya overcame Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 7-6(7-5), 6-4 in a grueling game. This is the second time in a matter of few days that Dayana has engaged in a heated battle after she got knocked out by Paula Badosa in three sets during the WTA BNP Indian Wells Open.

In the next round, Anna Kalinskaya will battle it out versus Maria Sakkari, Ajla Tomljanovic will square off against number-one seeded Aryna Sabalenka and Bernarda Pera is going to face Anastasia Pavyluchenkova.
