Simone Biles has revealed that she should have quit competitive gymnastics way before the Tokyo Olympics. While talking to the New York magazine, she also expressed that the abuse she suffered at the hands of team doctor Larry Nasser took a deep toll on her. Simone also revealed that she suffered “twisties’ during the Olympics, a type of mental block in the Olympics that hinges a gymnast’s ability to find orientation mid-air. Her anxiety got heightened also due to the coronavirus restrictions during Olympics which stalled her from meeting her family and friends.
It was too much. But I was not going to let him take something I've worked for since I was six years old. I wasn't going to let him take that joy away from me. So I pushed past that for as long as my mind and my body would let me.

As a Black woman, we just have to be greater Because even when we break records and stuff, they almost dim it down, as if it's just normal. This will probably be something I work through for 20 years.No matter how much I try to forget. It's a work in progress.
