F1 stalwart and the recent Russian Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton is planning to launch a scheme that includes the recruitment of black teachers for STEM subjects. STEM includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This framework is in the works ever since the Hamilton Commission Report revealed the problems related to representation among minority communities in UK motorsport.

The program which is going to work in a two-year window also involves Teach First, an education charity. The first step is lining up strategies that will help recruit black teachers. The initial aim is to facilitate the recruitment and training of around a hundred and fifty black teachers.

We know representation and role models are important across all aspects of society, but especially when it comes to supporting young people's development. The programme is the first partnership announced by Hamilton's Mission 44 scheme, which was set up earlier this year to support, empower and champion young people from under-served communities.
