Former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has turned down an offer to lead the Algerian national team, reports L'Equipe.
After the national team failed to make it out of the group at the Africa Cup of Nations, the previous head coach Djamel Belmadi resigned. The national team management turned to Zidane looking for a new mentor, but he refused.
It should be noted that the famous footballer and coach is familiar with the country, as his parents emigrated from Algeria to Paris in the 50s.
After leaving Real Madrid in 2021 Zidane remains unemployed.
Last June, he promised that he would still return to coaching. Earlier, the Frenchman refused to take charge of PSG and rejected a €150 million offer from Saudi Arabian Al-Nassr.
