Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal, a forward for FC Barcelona, addressed frequent comparisons of himself to Inter Miami's Lionel Messi.
Yamal stated in an interview with the Spanish publication Marca:
The most important thing is not to pay attention to it. Being compared to the best in history means you’re doing things right. It doesn't bother me, but I try to be myself.
Yamal made his La Liga debut in April 2023. By the end of the last season, he had played 50 matches across all tournaments, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.
