Video editing expert Alex Soler has commented on the controversial penalty awarded during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

The match took place at Civitas Metropolitano Stadium in Spain’s capital on March 12 and ended with a 1-0 victory for Atletico. Since the first match at Santiago Bernabeu concluded 2-1 in favor of los Blancos, a penalty shootout followed, where Real Madrid won 4-2.

It's worth noting that the penalty shot taken by Atletico's Argentinian forward Julian Alvarez was canceled after a VAR review. UEFA stated that Alvarez touched the ball twice before taking the penalty, which is a rules violation. Soler believes the video was manipulated by UEFA’s press service.

With experience in video editing, I found something very strange. The image quality was so bad, the shadows seemed to disappear, which made me suspicious. I couldn't find a reasonable explanation, but the video felt edited.
