Honorary president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, has voiced his concerns about FIFA's plans to expand the Club World Cup in 2025, which will feature 32 teams from six confederations.

Hoeness stated, as reported by journalist Maximilian Koch on his social media account:

What some officials at UEFA or FIFA are planning is madness. It will not improve the sport; rather, it will worsen the situation, leading to more player injuries, decreased performance, and eventually, dwindling interest.

Earlier, the union of professional players and the World Leagues Forum criticized the decision to expand the Club World Cup, expressing concerns about player welfare as matches will be added to an already congested playing calendar.

Reports also indicated that top European football leagues are preparing to take legal action against FIFA concerning these developments.
