The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced the candidates for the Player of the Week in the Champions League following the matches of the fourth round of the group stage. Four players have made it onto the shortlist.
The nominees include Sporting forward Viktor Gyökeres, Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, Salzburg striker Karim Konate, and Celtic midfielder Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn.
Notably, Viktor Gyökeres scored a hat trick against Manchester City in a 4-1 victory, while Luis Diaz also netted three goals against Bayer in a 4-0 win. Konate scored twice in his match against Feyenoord, while Kühn contributed two goals in Celtic’s 3-1 victory over Leipzig.
Earlier, Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer of Inter Milan was recognized as the best goalkeeper regarding clean sheets for a single club in UEFA Champions League history.
