A member of the supervisory board of Twente (the Netherlands) John Bierling resigned over the transfer of striker Manfred Ugalde to Spartak Moscow, reports the Tubantia media outlet.

According to the source, the sale of the forward to Spartak is incompatible with the principles of the Dutch Olympic Committee and Bierling's position on Russia.

Recall, on January 29, Spartak announced the signing of a contract with a 21-year-old forward from Costa Rica. The agreement is valid until the middle of 2028.

Ugalde scored nine goals and made seven assists in 25 matches for Twente in all tournaments. The Transfermarkt website estimates the market value of the 21-year-old player at €5 million.

Earlier, Twente board advisor Jan Streuer told RB Sport that the club had discussed the transfer of Ugalde with the Dutch government, while the Dutch club's technical director Arnold Bruggink said that doing business with Russia was not very pleasant.
