Despite losing their opening match to Kenya in the CECAFA Regional qualifiers for the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Tanzania’s head coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa remains confident that they can still win the tournament and earn qualification.
Hosts Tanzania were beaten 2-1 by Kenya in Dar es Salaam, with Mkwasa saying he will rely on their second half performance to find motivation for their second game.
Mkwasa said, speaking to Telecomasia.net after the match:
In the second half we played really well, especially with the tactical changes we made. We were more efficient and strong on and off the ball. I think if we play like this in the next matches, we will do well. Kenya were a bit stronger and more physical than us in the first half and that is where the difference came in.

The top two teams in each group progress to the semi-finals, which will be a final before a final, as the winners in each of the two games will book a ticket to the Cup of Nations.
We are playing at home and we have a very good team. I am confident in our abilities and very much sure that we will qualify for the Cup of Nations. We will make a few adjustments to improve the team.
