Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who returned to play to join Barcelona, shared which of his new teammates played a crucial role in his decision to make the switch.
Szczęsny had announced his retirement from professional football at the end of August 2024.
Szczęsny told Football Espana:
At first I wasn't ready for new challenges but I spoke to my family and friends and they all told me it would be a mistake not to accept this. That's why Robert played a very important role because he was the person who had the idea to convince me.
On October 2, 2024, Szczęsny resumed his career to sign with Barcelona, which was in need of a goalkeeper following the injury to Marc-André ter Stegen. From 2017 to 2024, he played for Juventus.
Earlier reports indicated that Szczęsny might debut for his new team after the international break.
