Head coach of the Swedish national football team Janne Andersson left his post after seven years of work, as reported by the press service of the Swedish Football Union.

The resignation of the 61-year-old specialist is associated with the unsuccessful performance of the team in the qualifying round of the European Championship-2024. November 19, the Swedes defeated Estonia on their field in Solna in the final match of the eighth round of Group F with a score of 2:0. Thus, the Swedish team has ten points in eight games and the third place in the group, which does not allow them to play in the final part of the Euro. Earlier, the national team was relegated to League C following the results of the Nations League-2022/2023.

Andersson, an ex-striker during his professional career, led the Swedish national team since June 2016. Under his leadership, the Blue and Yellow reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the round of 16 finals at Euro 2020.
