Spartak forward Quincy Promes, facing criminal charges in the Netherlands, has approached the Amsterdam court demanding assurances of his safety if he appears to testify.
Earlier, the court's press service stated that the footballer had already made a similar request but was denied. The authorities also mentioned that Promes has the right to address the appellate commission but is not obligated to do so in person under Dutch law.
On February 14, Promes, 32, was sentenced to six years in prison for illegal drug trafficking. Additionally, in June 2023, the forward received an 18-month prison term for assaulting his cousin with a knife.
Promes' lawyer Sophie Hof, representing the Dutchman, stated that the decision to sentence Promes to prison is not final.
