Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has fired a warning to his players that there is still a long way to go despite their brilliant start to the Tanzanian Premier League season. The South African coach has been on a brilliant start with the club in the league, leading them to four straight wins where they have scored 10 goals and not conceded any.

Davids, formerly with Orlando Pirates back at his home country South Africa, has also led them to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

There is always a plan to continue winning, but it is important not to get carried away from these wins. It is important to learn lessons from every game we play. We are very demanding and critical of ourselves as a team and nothing is perfect, even if we have won four matches. We still have a long way to go.

Davids says there is a certain way he wants his team to play and even as he works with a rebuilt side, he believes they have done well, though he still demands a lot.

They will look to make it five wins in a row in the league just before the international break, when they take on Coastal Union.

We need to continue working on ourselves and, as always, we go into every match to win. They (Coastal) are a good, much improved team and we know it will be a tough game.

Simba have not won the local Tanzanian league since the 2020-21 season and have played second fiddle to arch rivals Young Africans. Davids hopes that in his first season, he can return Simba to the top.
