Former Dundee United footballer Gavin Stokes was killed in a car accident, reports the Daily Record. The 30-year-old sportsman was behind the wheel of an SUV, when it crashed at a traffic circle on the outskirts of Glasgow.
It is noted that Stokes failed to control the vehicle. According to the source, he died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. No one else was injured in the accident.
Stokes had played for the Scottish junior national teams. He was known as the scorer of one of the fastest goals in Scottish football history. In a match for Maryhill, he sent the ball into the opponent's goal 2.1 seconds after the start of the game.
