Saudi Arabia earns a sensational victory over Argentina 2-1

The Argentine national team lost to the national team of Saudi Arabia in the first leg of the group stage match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, held in Qatar. The meeting ended with a score of 1-2 in favor of the Asian team.

Argentina forward Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute. The 35-year-old forward, playing in his fifth World Cup, scored from the penalty spot. In the first half, referee Slavko Vinčić cancelled three Argentinian goals. The reason for the cancellations in all the episodes was offside. Lautaro Martinez was offside twice and the other time Messi's shot wasn't registered.

In the beginning of the second half, the Saudi national team managed to level the score within five minutes. 48 minutes into the match, forward Saleh Alshehri scored after an assist from Feras Albrikan. In the 53rd minute, midfielder Salem Aldawsari scored his team's second goal, which turned out to be the winning one.
