Luis Rubiales, former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), was detained at the airport in Spain, but was later released, reports Sport.es.
Earlier, the Spanish prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant for the official in connection with alleged irregularities committed during his term as president of the federation.
Rubiales was detained at the country's airport and charged, but then released. Now Rubiales, 46, who has returned from the Dominican Republic, will await a subpoena. He faces charges of corruption, maladministration and money laundering.
