Cristiano Ronaldo, striker of Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr and the Portuguese national team, has offered his condolences to the friends and families of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Morocco.
The 38-year-old forward wrote a heartfelt message on his social media page:
My deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those who lost their lives in the earthquake in Morocco. Sending love and prayers to all in Morocco at this very difficult time.
The earthquake occurred on the night of September 9. The epicenter of the tremors was located 77 kilometers from the city of Marrakech, in the Atlas Mountains, at a depth of about ten kilometers. The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.2 points on the Richter scale. At least 2012 dead and at least 2,059 injured have been reported. The quake was also felt in Spain, Portugal and Algeria.
Ronaldo's four-star hotel, located in the hardest-hit Marrakech, hosted a large number of tourists stranded in the city during the disaster, according to media reports.
