Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku has set a record for goals in a single European Championship qualifier, UEFA's official website reports.
The 30-year-old striker scored 14 goals in 10 matches during the qualifying for Euro 2024 and surpassed the previous record. In qualifying for Euro 2008, David Healy of Northern Ireland and forward Robert Lewandowski of the Polish national team scored 13 goals each in qualifiers for Euro 2016.
It should be noted that Lukaku scored four of the 14 goals in the final match against Azerbaijan (5:0), which took place the day before, November 19.
The final part of Euro-2024 will be held from June 14 to July 14 next year in Germany.
