Defending Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen have ended their 35-match unbeaten run after losing 3-2 to RB Leipzig at home on Saturday.
Xabi Alonso's men dominated the game in the first half, with Jeremie Frimpong opening the scoring in the 38th minute, and Alejandro Grimaldo doubled the lead just before the break. However, the game took on a new dimension when Leipzig pulled a goal back through midfielder Kevin Kampl deep in first-half stoppage time, and Openda leveled in the 57th minute. Openda scored his second goal with 10 minutes remaining on the clock, as his goal saw his side secure a 3-2 victory, ending their 35-match league unbeaten run.
The defeat is a historic night for Leipzig, as they are the first team to beat Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for 462 days.
