Dutch forward of Moscow's Spartak Quincy Promes is currently under house arrest in the UAE following his detention at a local airport. This information was reported by NRC.nl.
Sources indicate that Promes may face extradition to the Netherlands, but it remains unclear if the European country has submitted a formal request.
Previously, the footballer was detained at passport control due to a traffic accident during Spartak's winter training in the UAE. It's reported that Promes fled the scene of the accident. In the Netherlands, the player was found guilty of drug smuggling and assaulting a relative with a knife, resulting in a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Premier League, Alexander Alaev, stated that individuals with unresolved criminal charges should not compete in the Russian league.
