Kenya Police FC captain Musa Muhammed has said Kenya will soon reduce the gap between themselves and North African teams. Mohammed said Kenyan football has been on the rise for the past few years, and an improvement in investment will take the scales even higher.

Muhammed’s side lost 1-0 to defending champions, Zamalek SC of Egypt, in the first leg of their Confederation Cup fixture in Nairobi, and he believes their display showed the difference in class is narrowing.

We conceded the lone goal because of one mistake. Overall however, we showed what we can do as a team and we showed that we can match them up. I believe it is only a matter of time before we can compete with them. We only need a bit more investment in our game and I believe we will get there.

Police face Zamalek in Cairo this weekend in the return tie, a tough call, but Muhammed believes they can once again match up:

They (North African teams) are really strong in their backyard and it will be a tough call for us. But, I believe if we can play compact, as a team and with purpose, we can shock them there. We will give our best.

Police are making their debut in Continental football. A win of more than two goals in Cairo will see them progress to the group stages for the first time ever.
